India is ready to work with Maldives : Ficci
Indian national organization for trade Ficci, have said that they are ready to work with Maldives on trade and investments.

An official from Ficci speaking at the investment forum held at Delhi this month, said that the relation between India and Maldives is strong and it is strengthening day by day.

They noted that, Indian companies like Taj and Oberoi has started investing in Maldives. They also said that India provides staple food items and construction materials to Maldives as well. Furthermore, they noted that the Indian companies are working closely with Maldivian companies on many areas.

Ficci said that Indian companies are ready to increase investments in Maldives and that they will facilitate Indian companies to do so. Speaking about tourism, they said that Indians do want to visit Maldives but sometimes it is hard to do so because they have to spend 1000 dollars daily.

Even though there are cheap resorts in Maldives, usually Indians visit Taj group resorts. These resorts charge 1000 dollars daily and this is not the average price of Maldivian resorts. Hence, cheaper resorts should be marketed in India. There are resorts available from 200 dollars upwards with almost same services and fascilities.

During a recent trip to India by Miadhu News, we met a Gujrati businessman on the flight who said that he had to pay 5300 dollars for 4 days in a Taj group hotel in Maldives. He said that it is very expensive compared to ordinary resorts.
