Muhammed Waheedhuhdheen, have said that during Dr.Waheed’s administration foreign ambassadors from most powerful Nations met with Dr.Waheed and asked him to resign several times.
Waheedhuhdheen who was Dr.Waheed’s Vice President made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held last night to launch Dr.Waheed’s biography. Dean said that after Nasheed resigned many foreign ambassadors visited Dr.Waheed and constantly pressured him to resign.
“As someone who worked at the President’s Office at the time, I took part in these meetings. I could not bear this and I requested Dr.Waheed not to meet them” said Waheeduhdheen. Waheeduhdheen said that however, Dr.Waheed met with them and gave them the chance to say what they had in mind with a smiling face.
“Dr.Waheed always responded to them with a smile on his face no matter what they said” said Dean. Dean said that this shows that Dr.Waheed has a lot of patience. He further said that Dr.Waheed faced a lot of external and internal pressure during his administration. He highlighted the protests carried out in Male’ and inability to pass budget and pressure from foreign ambassadors.
Dean said that President Yameen is able to rule the country peacefully because, of the tolerant policies of Dr.Waheed’s administration.
