Managing Director of STO, Ahmed Shaheer have said that their biggest achievement is being able to sell imported goods at a cheap price while progressing by 162 percent during the last 3 years.
He made this statement while speaking at a ceremony held at Rasfannu last night to celebrate 3 year-anniversary of President Yameen’s government. He said that their aim is not to be the most profitable company, but to be the company that provide services to the people at the lowest possible rates. He said that price of imported goods such as construction materials, fuel has decreased dramatically. Also he said that they have introduced easy ways to provide these goods to the people. In addition, he said that they have doubled the size of STO supermarket as well.
Furthermore, Shaheer said that President Yameen gave a lot of importance to improve the health sector and STO played an important role in it as well. “We established pharmacies in all inhabited islands and completed the project even before the deadline. We are keeping records of the medicine available at pharmacies and supplying when they run out of it. We are providing medical equipment needed for IGMH and other hospitals” said Shaheer.
Shaheer said that it is President Yameen who made STO a profitable company in 1990s when it was running at a loss. Shaheer thanked President Yameen for the improvements brought to STO by him during this administration.
Shaheer said that STO will fully support the government in all the developmental projects. Shaheer also noted that STO contributes a lot to social programs as well.
Even now STO is working with Housing Ministry to establish 20 mechanical parking systems in Male’ for cars and motor cycles.
