Maldives Hajj Corporation have said that since Saudi Airlines started operating to Maldives, things are now a lot easier to pilgrims.
The MD of Hajj Corporation Yameen Idrees said that the time spent at the airport is less when they use Saudi Airlines. Also, immigration clearance and customs clearance is also a lot faster to those who use Saudi Airlines. In addition he said that previously the luggage allowance was 20-25 kilograms however he said that Saudi Airlines allows 40 kilograms.
Yameen Idrees said that the airline started operating direct flights to Maldives due to the close relations between the two nations. He said that he expects the Hajj quota to Maldives could be increased once the renovation of Kauba is over.
“Brunei which has roughly around the same population as Maldives receives 400-600 quota. But we get 2000.” Said Yameen.
Yameen said that by 2018, the number of people participating in the Hajj Scheme of the corporation will be 10,000.
