Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that the Maldivian Coast Guard has the fastest vessels in the world.
Speaking to the press at the president’s office Adam Shareef said that Coast Guard has 2 vessels that can travel at 50 miles per hour and they will get 3 more in December.
“ Once we get these vessels, coast guard will be able to help anyone who is in need of help while on the sea. Lunches can reach the spot quickly with necessary weapons to rescue if necessary.” said Adam Shareef.
He said that while global terrorism is on the rise, Maldives will also face problems but the National Counter Terrorism Center is working hard to prevent any such problems in Maldives.
“Now we have established a mechanism to transport sick people from one island to the other if needed. We have sea ambulance services in all islands” said Shareef.
Shareef noted that, they often provide the service of the helicopter if there is bad weather or any other unforeseen issue.
He also said that the government has introduced a mechanism to provide aid to those who are victims of fire accidents. In addition he said that the government has organized the welfare services of soldiers in a perfect manner.
