President Yameen have said that he will not hesitate to develop the health sector of Maldives and that it is the most important investment.
President made this statement while speaking at a ceremony held at IGMH last night to inaugurate new facilities at IGMH.
President Yameen said that the most important investments are the investments made on the health sector and we will realize it when we are sick.
President said that developing new facilities at IGMH will stop Maldivians from going abroad to seek treatment and because of that the burden on Aasandha will be less. He said that with that, government can provide additional services to the people.
President said that it will not be possible to introduce all modern facilities at once in Maldives, and the government is working with foreign companies in order to introduce modern facilities as soon as possible.
President said that even if the doctor is knowledgeable, the doctors can provide services when they are provided with adequate facilities. He said that doctors can develop professionally as well once these facilities are provided.
He further said that Maldivians often travel abroad to treat for infertility and they have to spend many days abroad. He said that with the introduction of this service in Maldives, now people will not have to go abroad.
President said that even in this year’s budget the government allocated 3.3 billion Rufiyaa for the health sector and that is around 20 percent of the state revenue.
