National Counter Terrorism Center have said that they receive the most assistance from India.
The Deputy Director of the Center, Colonel Abdul Raheem said that India assists in the workings of the center. He said that some other countries assist as well.
Abdul Raheem said that no country is free from terrorism and the center is working to ensure that Maldives is safe from terrorist activities. He said that a seminar on counter terrorism was held in Maldives this year and they plan to hold one next year as well.
He said that they need cooperation from the people and he requests everyone to work with the center.
Researches shows that usually terrorists aim to topple the government of a nation to achieve their goals. The most recent terrorist activity in Maldives was the assassination attempt on President Yameen. It was planned by former vice President Adeeb.
Even though there are no major terror activities in Maldives incidents like stealing safes from tourist resorts do occur. Even the safe of Western Union office was robbed after tying up the staffs. Even though its rare these problems are present in Maldives.
