ADK has removed a tumor from someone’s brain which was spread to a large part of the brain.
Speaking to the press today, the MD of ADK Ahmed Afaal said that this tumor was removed by a surgery conducted by Dr.Ram and Dr.Niyaf.
Dr.Niyaf said that a 57 year old woman was brought to ADA because she was feeling weak on the left side of the body. After an MRI test it was discovered that she had a tumor on one half of her brain.
Dr.Niyaf said that they prepared to do a 12 hour long surgery and they were able to finish it within 8 hours with the will of Allah and the patient is now recovering.
“I can assure that now she does not have a tumor in her brain. Now she can sit and talk. Also she is recovering from the temporary paralysis. That means that the surgery was successful with the will of Allah” said Niyaf.
Dr.Niyaf said that it was a very huge tumor and it was very challenging to remove it.
Dr.Niyaf said that in the past 2 years 300 surgeries related to nervous system has been completed a ADK and they are now finding out a way to remove tumors from the spinal code of two people. “ Even before we have removed tumors from the spine. It was successful” said Niyaf.
He said that they have the most modern technologies in the world and even now are working to improve the technology. He said that they conduct surgeries at ADK after making sure that they can successfully do it. He said that if they do not have the guarantee they always refer the patients to somewhere else.
“These types of surgeries can cause complications no matter where it is conducted. It depends on the will of Allah. We conduct surgeries after taking a lot of things into consideration” said Niyaf.
He further said that with the developments in the Maldivian health sector, the people of Maldives should trust the health care system in Maldives.
