IFRC calls to increase the funds spent on disaster mitigation
IFRC has called to increase the funds spent on disaster mitigation.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Champaa Central Hotel today to release the World Disaster Report 2016 by IFRC, the regional country cluster support team, Mr.Leon Prop said that studies show that the global average spent on disaster mitigation is just 0.04 percent. He said that this is a really small amount.

Leon said that even though number of causalities due to disasters did not increase in 2015, studies from the past 20 years show that number of people dying due to disasters are increasing. Leon said that 2015 showed a rise in average global temperature at a record level.

He said that there are various risks due to climate change. He said that we should be ready for disasters as a result of climate change.
