To increase investments it is important to resolve problems swiftly : President Yameen

President Yameen have said that to increase investments in Maldives it is very important to resolve issues in a trusted manner as soon as possible.

He made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of “Doing business in Maldives: A Judicial perspective colloquium” organized by the Economic Ministry and the Judiciary.

President said that reports and sayings by World Bank and financial institutions are important but the most important is resolving various issues quickly and getting justice.

President noted, the importance of the judiciary being ready and trained for this. In addition, President noted the importance of economic development to increase investments and businesses in the country.

President said that if the economy fails and the amount that have to be spent on paying debts increases from 12 to 25 percent, there will be several problems. He said that hence, subsidies should be given to those who deserve them instead of distributing to everyone or else we will face difficulties in future.

“Whenever we approach the banks, they will question the country’s economy. The country’s financial capacity. So we should develop the economy and increase the financial capacity” said the President.
