President Yameen has said that the world knows now that Maldives is a good place to conduct businesses and to invest in.
He made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of “Doing business in Maldives: A Judicial perspective colloquium” organized by the Economic Ministry and the Judiciary.
President said that China is the largest economy in the world and Maldives is getting ready to sign a free trade agreement with China. President said that signing a free trade agreement with China shows that Maldives has an enabling environment to conduct business. President said that the rest of the world will recognize this.
President said that once Maldives able to resolve business dispute in an internationally accepted standard, the investor guarantee will increase. He said that now the government is talking with economically developed countries to establish such a system in Maldives.
President Yameen said that he is happy that the Supreme Court has declared that they will finish business disputed cases within 5 months from the day it is filed at the lower court.
President noted the importance of protecting the right of business owners in cases like where some people forge the signature of the business owners and over take the company.
President Yameen ensured that, he will develop Maldives to a level where it has an enabling environment to conduct world class businesses.
