President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has ratified the third amendment to the “Political Parties Act” (Act No. 4/2013). The amendment was passed by the Parliament at the 14th sitting of its third session, on 23rd November 2016.
Following ratification, the Act has been published in the Government Gazette.
On ratification of this amendment, a member registered in a political party who has contested in a primary election of the political party, will not be able to contest in any other capacity in the same election.
