The day Maldives embraced Islam to be marked with colorful celebrations
The government had decided to mark the day Maldives embraced Islam with colorful celebrations this year. The day is celebrated on the second of Rabeeul Aakhir. It will be December 31st per Gregorian calendar.

The works carried out to celebrate this day will be over seen by Home Ministry and Islamic Ministry. Islamic Ministry says that activities will start on 23rd December.

There will be a special countdown event on 23rd December in front of Hukuru Miskiyy. The activities will be held for one week. A special essay and poetry writing competition will be held among schools. Deputy Islamic Minister Muhammad Musthafa said that Home Ministry and Dhivehi Bahuge Academy are discussing on more activities that can be conducted to mark the day.

On the night of 31st December there will be a special function held to mark the day. In addition, a children’s evening will be held on the same day. Officials say that these activities will be conducted in accordance with Islamic principles.
