Today is the day Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was born. Muslims around the world are marking this day in different ways.
Some Muslims mark this day as a special day to do more good deeds. Others mark this day to renew and reflect on the Sunnah of the prophet.
If we research on the life of the prophet one major theme that can be found from his personal traits is doing what is just. He was never unjust to anyone. He never ordered anything that contradicted with the commands of Allah.
In distributing the wealth of the Muslim state, he never took anything that was not rightfully his. He did not live in a palace or eat food owned by the publics. He did not spend the state’s money for his personal use.
Are Muslim leaders following this example ?
While the citizens of the country are starving, the rulers of these countries are flying around the world with people’s money. Is this how Muslim leaders should behave ? Is this the example left to us by the prophet?
When prophet was the leader of the Islamic world, everyone had access to him. He gave everyone the time to present their grievances.
Is this how the Islamic leaders of today are acting? How many citizens can get access to their leaders and tell the leader about their grievances? Because of this the people are getting desperate day by day. When they have to remain in that state of depression for that long, it turns into conflicts. This is how wars start.
If we want stability in Islamic nations, the leaders of these nations should rule based on the Sunnah. Just societies should be established and everyone should be treated equally. If there is such a day, we can rid the Islamic Ummah from the sad state it is today. All the conflicts will be over.
We should not be selective of what we want to follow from the Sunnah of the prophet. Allah did not command not only to take tax but do many other things as well. We have to follow the prophet in all these aspects.
The leaders of muslim world should not be any exception when following the prophet. A huge question that arise is whether the leaders of Islamic nations are ruling based on the Sunnah of the Prophet. Islam cannot be promoted just by talking about it. It can be promoted by acting upon the Sunnah. Hence, at this point it is important that the leaders of the Islamic world follow the Sunnah.
