Maldives Anti-Corruption commission, ACC has decided to hold a national conference on preventing corruption in the Maldives.
In a ceremony held this morning to release research that was done in Fuvahmulah by ACC, the president of ACC Hassan Luthfee said that universities and government offices will take part in the conference that will be held in 2017. He said that wide range of discussions will be held at the conference.
Hassan Luthfee said that in 2011, the most illegal money was generated from drug related crimes. "After 2011, most money is obtained via cyber crimes and through corruptions. So we should be ready for these new challenges. The people should be made more aware about these things" said Luthfee.
He said that, within few seconds millions of dollars in bank accounts are being stolen and people should be more aware about these things.
He said that the research conducted at Fuvahmulah shows that men and women who stay at home should be made more aware about such things. Also, the means of disseminating information to such people should be changed.
The report which ACC published today on public perception on corruption is the third such report by ACC.
