Maldivian Meteorological Center has received ISO-2008-9001 certificate. Speaking to the press, environment minister Thoriq Ibrahim said this is the first time the institution received such an award and they achieved it due to the hard work done in the last 3 years.
Thoriq said that they have done a lot of work including procuring new equipment and training new staffs. Thoriq said that every year, ICAO will audit the center to see whether they are able to deliver services up to their standards and they have to maintain a score of 70 percent to retain the award.
He said that in the next year 40 centers will be established to monitor the weather. Thoriq said that the services were developed up to these standards due to the priority given by the government for this.
