Dr.Arvind Mathur, the country representative of WHO in Maldives have said that when the health sector of a country develops, the countries prestige will rise.
Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate a training to train people who can assess the quality of Maldivian health services, Dr.Mathur said that development of the health sector is an indicator of national development. Dr.Mathur said that when the quality of health services improve, no one will talk about it but if the services are bad people will talk about it a lot. He said that hence it is very important to improve the quality of health services provided in the country.
Dr.Mathur said that the services cannot be improved just by developing facilities but also how it is delivered is very important. “ Quality of services does not improve just like that. That can be done when there is capacity. “ said Dr.Maathur.
Dr.Mathur assured that WHO will do whatever they can to assist Maldives in developing the health sector.
