Kids as young as 10 years get into relationships in Maldives: HRCM
A research by the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives shows that kids aged 10 and 11 gets into relationships in Maldives.

According to the Sexual and Reproductive Health Report by HRCM, everyone who participated in their survey believes that kids as young as 10 and 11 get into relationships. Also it is believed that these kids engaged in sexual activities starting from a young age.

The report says that, usually kids do these things without informing their parents and hence they engage in these activities secretly. Also some parents do not accept teenagers getting into relationships even after they finish their studies. In addition, kids of this age usually meet with their significant others secretly and this leads to sexual encounters according to the report. The survey shows that this happens because parents disagree their kids to engage in relations like this.

In addition, some parents punish their kids from engaging in behaviors like this according to the report. The survey shows that this attitude of parents are similar to the attitude of South Indian parents. However some people say that there is a religious factor to it. Additionally the respondents of the survey believes that early marriages lead to various health problems and it also increases divorce. However some respondents believed that it is better to get married than engaging in sexual activities without getting married. Also, the respondents noted that number of men, secretly marrying a second wife, abroad is also on the rise.
