Maldives Liveaboard Association has started investigating the issue of foreigners working aboard safaris.
The secretary general of Liveaboard Association, Mohammed Ignaaz Ali said that they are aware of the fact that 3 Bangladeshis were arrested aboard a Safari last week and because of that now they are investigating to see whether there were more foreigners on safaris.
He said that they have 166 safaris registered under that organization and they will work to obtain information from safaris which are not members of the organization.
He said that they do not support employing foreigners on Safaris. “Sometimes it is not possible to get good chefs for safaris. We talked with the government and allowed the safaris to hire foreign chefs if they are unable to get a local chef. Hence there should not be any foreigners in any other positions ” said Ignaaz.
He said that to solve this problem, they will first talk with the owners of the Safaris.
Liveaboard Association is involved in promoting safaris in Maldives and also working for the rights of the Safaris.
