National Council on Elections, has advised the elections commission to postpone the local council elections for two months.
Also, the committee advised EC to withdraw the appeal case of EC from High Court. The advisory committee consists of representatives from political parties as well.
PPM has said that they have not submitted names of PPM candidates to EC yet. EC noted that one huge problem is that the candidates have not yet received the 28-day period to campaign.
Civil Court has ordered to delay the elections after PPM filed a case requesting to delay. Even though EC has appealed the case, High Court haven’t scheduled the hearings, so it is not possible to conduct the elections on 14th after giving a 28 day period to campaign.
