JP have said that the political parties should not delay talks with the government and it is important to resolve the issues by talking to the government instead of showing excuses.
Deputy Leader of JP Abdullah Kamaaludeen said that there are various problems which are of concern to the political parties and what’s important is resolving those issues.
“ AP and MDP are worried because their leaders are serving jail time. JP is concerned because party leader is not able to contest in the 2018 elections” said Kamaaludeen.
“ All the parties want to put forward a candidate who is popular among the members of the party. Qasim Ibrahim is the most popular among JP members “ said Kamaaludeen.
In addition he said that all the parties will have problems but those problems can be solved only by holding talks with the government.
“Talks should be started without those who cannot take part. Then only we can find solutions. If not there is no way forward” said Kamaaludeen.
He said that the parties are asking for a foreign mediator due to the experiences of the past. He said that if things are going well with trust no mediator would be needed.
He also said that the President’s office has the right to create guidelines in talks initiated by the President’s office. He said that he believes the President’s Office can request to pass the name of the party representatives from the party councils.
