Women of Goidhoo has entered into history books by taking up fishing as a source of livelihood.
Women in Maldives do not engage in fishing often. Some women they do fishing but not as a job. However women from Goidhoo has started this. Since a week ago, women in the island has started taking boats to the open ocean to fish. A lot of women from the island are engaged in this.
They are doing this every afternoon and are able to catch a good amount of fish. They also carry the fish home on their own. Women of Goidhoo are on the same level with women in many other social aspects.
According to an online news in Eydafushi, Goidhoo was able to win the atoll football and bashi championships due to the immense support given by the women of Goidhoo.
