Deputy Managing Director of PSM, Muhammad Ikram have said that Maldivians never desired to get eye surgeries done by Jews. He said that Maldivians do not want to strengthen relation with Jews, however Maldivians were forced to do these things by “MDP government”.
Ikram made this statement in a ceremony held yesterday to mark the 889thanniversary of Maldivians embracing Islam.
During MDP government, government brought in Jewish doctors to Maldives to perform eye surgeries in Maldives. Most of these doctors are veterans of the inhumane Israeli Army. A lot of people protested and even burnt the flag of Israel during those days.
Ikram said that if we look at history it can be seen that, foreign invaders always try to take over Maldives to wipe away Islam from Maldives. He said that the Portuguese and even the Dutch tried to wipe away Islam from Maldives. In addition, the ring leaders of the 1988 terrorist attack also planned to give religious freedoms in Maldives.
He said that Maldives is the only country which has been able to retain as an Islamic country for this long. Ikram also noted that it is only the current government that has celebrated the day Maldives embraced Islam on a large scale.
