State Minister for Education Dr.Abdullah Nazeer have said that even if Maldives is a small vulnerable country, Maldivians have shown that Maldivians are mighty and powerful.
In a ceremony held yesterday to mark the 889th anniversary of the day Maldivians embraced Islam, Dr.Nazeer said that foreigners talk about how vulnerable the country is and how less of a population we have in Maldives. He said that he does not disagree with this. He said that however, Maldives has always maintained the sovereignty of the state and never ‘sold’ the right to have Islam as the sole religion in the country.
He said that Maldivians bravely fight against any outside forces.
In addition he said that, Maldives always stands up for what’s right in the international arena. He said that Maldivians are able to behave in such a way because Maldivians are Muslims. He said that Islam provides the best ways of how person must conduct in life. He said that no other religion provides this guideline to life.
Furthermore he said that Maldivians are able to achieve success despite all the challenges, because Maldivians are steadfast in following the religion of Islam.
