From vendors to cashiers, everyone are foreigners. Maybe, these people handling the money in this market are not cashiers. Since, the market is run by Association for Maldivian businesses and it is ‘unlikely’ that they will do something illegal. Even if these people are not cashiers, foreigners handle all the money. Foriegners only collected money form customers and Paid Balance.
Ironically, this association recently released a statement raising concern because foreigners work as photographers in Maldives. So this certainly proves that, this association is determined to find more job for Maldivians. Maybe they are not aware that the cashiers in their own market are not Maldivians. We hope that when they are made aware of this fact, they will stop this illegal practice and hire Maldivians.
We are not talking about an ordinary organization. This is an association which represents all large and small businesses in Maldives and this market is being operated on a land owned by them.
