The branch located in Hithadhoo was officially opened today by Economic Minister Mohammed Saeed and CEO of MPL Mohammed Junaid.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Saeed said that they will try to provide the same level of services as in Male’ at the newly opened office. He said that except very few services, most of the services that are available in Male’ will be provided from the office.
Some services that will be provided from this office includes services related to transport, business and also some permits from the Ministry. “ We hope to provide all the services related to transport from this office. In addition business registering services will be available as well. We have decided to provide all the services available in Male’ in Addu as well. Registrar and other teams in the ministry are working on that now” said Minister Saeed.
He further said that they are trying to see whether they can approve some permits via the internet. He said that he hopes to start these services also within two to three months. In addition, he said that some services of labor relation authority will also be provided from the office.
Minister said that the establishment of this office shows that the President wants to bring services closer to the people. He said that the President does not consider the population of an Island when deciding to provide such services.
A branch of Economic Development Ministry has been opened in Addu City.
