Disaster Management Center, and Ayadi Takaful the Islamic Window of Allied Insurance Company has introduced a catastrophe insurance scheme. Under this scheme, if an insured person or persons are faced with a disaster, they will be provided with a shelter for three months.
The agreement of the scheme was signed by Mohammed Shafaaz on behalf of Allied Insurance and Fathimath Thasneem the deputy Defence Minister signed on behalf of the disaster management center. This scheme will cover damages incurred to property and damages in case of a disaster. The agreement signing ceremony was attended by defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar as well.
According to Ayadhi Thakaful, the scheme will only cover natural disasters and fire related incidents. There are three categories in this scheme and landlord, tenants and small and medium enterprises can be covered under this scheme. Those who want to insure should pay 0.18 percent of the total value of the insured product as premium.
Speaking at the ceremony, Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar said that, people are unable to move on with their lives after they face disasters and hence such an insurance package will help people to carry on with their lives even after a disaster.
