CEO of MPL, Muhammad Junaid have said that if the people of Addu City work with the government, Addu can attain development and that this is the best time to do it.
Speaking at a meeting organized by the Economic Minister to meet with the business community of Addu City, Junaid said that in the past governments failed to develop Addu City and that it is self-evident. He said that within a short period the current government has brought numerous developments to Addu.
He said that development cannot be brought in containers but, it can be attained by working for it. “ This is the most important time for that. Government is ready to do anything for the development of Addu. So the next step is the people cooperating with the government” said Junaid .
Junaid noted that the government needs the people to cooperate to start various projects the government has planned for Addu. In a tea-party organized by the people of Hulhumeedhoo, Junaid said that they were able to make a channel in Hulhumeedhoo recently because the islanders cooperated with the government.
“ When we made that channel, some labelled us as enemies of the environment. But who will sleep under the trees when they get land from a forest ? Everyone will cut sufficient amount of trees to build a nice house “ said Junaid.
Junaid said that, with the newly created channel fishermen and travelers are able to save a lot of fuel and time. He said that, it is development and the money that is saved from this can be used to develop the lives of fishermen and the saved time could be used to spend with family.
