President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, following the demise of former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Hon. Ratnasiri Wickremanayake.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with deep sorrow that I learned of the demise of the former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Honourable Ratnasiri Wickremanayake. The former Prime Minister will, no doubt, be always remembered for his distinguished services to the country as a veteran politician and for his efforts in fostering the progress and prosperity of Sri Lanka.”
“At this time of national grief, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our profound sympathy to Your Excellency, the Government and the friendly people of Sri Lanka.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the family of the former Prime Minister Honourable Ratnasiri Wickremanayake.”
