None of the religious scholars from Saudi Arabia, visiting Maldives shook hands with women. Lately various scholars from Saudi Arabia visits Maldives. When they visit different institutions of Maldives, the women in these institutions greet them.
In these cases, they just smile and say “Assalam Alaikum” instead of shaking hands. People like President of Saudi Shura Majlis and Islamic Minister acted the same way. Very few religious scholars of Maldives shake hands with women. It is disputed among the scholars whether it is allowed to shake hands with non-mahrams.
