Chancellor of Islamic University, Dr.Muhammad Shaheem Ali Saeed have said that the purpose of studying is not to attain a specific position, but to serve the nation. He said that if one, studies with this intention jobs will come after that person.
Dr.Shaheem made this statement in a ceremony held tonight, to award two PhD scholarships to study abroad on behalf of IUM. Dr.Shaheem said that one should not only study to serve the Islamic University but also the whole country in general. He said that the scholars should work hard to spread Islamic knowledge.
Dr.Shaheem noted that IUM is receiving a lot of assistance from foreign universities. “ International Institute of Islamic Thoughts is the organization that developed Islamic International University of Malaysia. They have said that they will assist to develop IUM like they developed IIUM of Malaysia” said Dr.Shaheem.
He further said that it was a pledge of the President to develop and Islamic University in Maldives and now IUM is working hard to attain the goals of founding the university. “ The goals are, to spread Islamic knowledge, to promote moderate Islamic, and to work against extremist ideologies and we are attaining these goals” said Dr.Shaheem.
Even though the University is very young, the university has attained a lot of success within a short span. IUM has formed partnership with world famous Islamic universities and receives their assistance.
