Islamic University of Maldives have awarded 10 PhD scholarships. In a ceremony held tonight, the scholarships were awarded by Finance Minister Ahmed Munavvar. Minister Munavvar was a former board member at the university.
Five out of the ten scholarships were from Darussalaam University of Brunei. Four scholarships were awarded from International Institute of Islamic Thoughts. These 4 courses will be offered at International Islamic University of Malaysia. In addition, one scholarship was given from Islamic University of Maldives.
Chancellor of Islamic University, Dr.Muhammad Shaheem Ali Saeed noted the help given by Islamic University of Brunei and IIIT. “These courses are worth more than 50,000 dollars. All these scholarships are full scholarships. This is a great assistance to us” said Dr.Shaheem. He said that both university are really beautiful. He said that this is a great opportunity for the recipients of the scholarships.
Dr.Shaheem noted that no matter where one studies, there will always be challenges and hence asked the students to have patience and work hard. “ After 3 years of studying, then there will be a time of happiness” said Dr.Shaheem.
He also said that if there are any problems during the studying period, he will provide assistance to the best of his capacity.
Recipients of the scholarships include staffs of the university and some others as well.
