Maldives Ports Limited, MPL has released a statement stating that Meridiam Compny is spreading lies regarding the contract made between Meridiam and MPL to provide diesel to MPL. MPL’s statement condemned the work that is being done by Meridium to defame MPL and the government.
The statement further says that, Meridiam was not the company which offered to provide fuel at the lowest price and that this can be proved from the company documents. Referring to Meridium’s statement which says that “ MPL tried to offer the contract to another company which has ties to the government “ MPL’s statement said that this is a lie and this will create mistrust towards the government.
In addition, the statement listed the names of companies that placed bids on the fuel procurement contract. Also the statement refuted Meridiam’s claim that even the court order proves that the contract was awarded with a board resolution. As per the statement by MPL, the court order does not say anything about how the contract was awarded.
Previously CEO of MPL, Muhammad Junaid have said that the contract was awarded to Meridiam by the previous management of MPL without a board resolution. MPL is facing millions of Ruifyaa in loss due to this contract. At the moment MPL has appealed the case in high court, after Civil Court ruled that the contract was valid.
