Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom have said that he does not support the decision of Dunya Maumoon to join the government as state Minister for Health.
Former President made this statement in a tweet minutes after the news of her appointment was made public. Maumoon said that, the decision to join the government was made by Dunya independently and that he does not support it.
Dunya’s sister Yumna Maumoon also tweeted saying that it was Dunya’s personal decision and that she will remain with President Maumoon on the righteous path.
Dunya resigned from the government in mid-2016 amid a rift between her father and her uncle, President Yameen.
