Islamic minister Dr.Ahmed Ziyad Baqir have said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the 4 rightly guided caliphs worked to develop the country and all of them held justice and equality among all in high regard.
Speaking at the ceremony held last night to mark the 990th anniversary of Maldives embracing Islam, the minister said that Islam spread rapidly during the times when Islamic leaders worked based on these principles.
He said that that the Islamic Empire weakened after 1000 years and when we think about the reasons, there are many lessons to be learnt from that.
He said that the prophet prioritized to establish an Islamic state in Medina, to establish justice in the land.
“ Abbasi caliphate, Usmaani caliphate and Umawee caliphate was able to retain in power for 1000 years because they followed these principles “ said the Minister.
Dr.Ziyad also talked about some of the reasons why Islamic empire weakened. He said that these reasons should be further researched.
Even if we look at Maldives, we can only say that only in few moments of history we can see that justice was established. It will not be far from the truth to say that based on the recorded history of Maldives only 10 percent of it had a just society.
