Saudi Ambassador to Maldives Badr Al-Kohail said that Saudi Arabia will provide more teachers to teach Arabic and Islamic studies in Maldivian schools.
He made this statement at a ceremony held to award certificates for 17 Saudi teachers who completed an orientation program in the Maldives. These teachers will be teaching Arabic and Islamic studies.
The Ambassador said that Maldives and Saudi Arabia enjoyed strong relations throughout history and that it started during the reign of Jalaalathul Mulk Fahd Bin Abdul Azeez. In addition, he said that the present King Salmaan’s visit to the Maldives in 2014 when he was the crown prince, strengthened the relations. He said that the opening of Saudi embassy in Maldives has increased the relations between two countries.
The ambassador thanked King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Naaif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, for their close relations with Islamic nations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Education Minister Dr.Aishath Shihaam said that the 17 teachers that were sent by Saudi Arabia will train teachers in Islamic University, National University and the center for Quranic Studies. In addition they will be teaching at schools in Male’, Hulhumale’, Addu City,’ and Kulhudhuhfushi.
