The fourth convention of the religious scholars in Maldives has begun last night.
Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony of the convention.
Speaking at the ceremony, Islamic Minister Dr.Ahmed Ziyad Baaqir said that there will be always differences of opinion among scholars and that was how it was in all periods of Islamic history. He said that however there should be no enmity among scholars and differences in opinions should be resolved through discussions.
“There will always be different opinions. That how it always has been. Solution is to talk and find solutions” said the Minister. Dr.Ziyad said that there is unity among the scholars in Maldives and the high turnout rate in this convention is evidence for that.
The topic of the convention is: “ do no transgress the boundaries set by Allah”. The convention will end today. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Islamic Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Ibrahim Rasheed said that the topic of the convention is not to go extreme even in the things that are commanded by Allah to do so. Also, to stay away from any activities that are forbidden in Islam.
