Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr.Muhammad Shainee have said that if we look at the past 30 years, Indian assistance in development of infrastructure and business in Maldives is huge.
Delivering a keynote speech at the Raisina Dialogue in India, Dr.Shainee said that Maldives is open for investors from the region and all over the world. He said that Maldives will always welcome investors and Maldives have the highest rate of returns for investments in the world.
He further said that, Maldives is in need of foreign investments and Maldives can reach the next level of development by increasing foreign investments. Dr.Shainee said that all countries will face problems and there are international mechanisms to solve these problems. He said that Maldives in no way is a stubborn, extremist country and always respects decisions taken at an international level.
“We not only have relations between Indian investors but both our governments have close relations” said Dr.Shainee. He said that the trust between the countries in this region played a vital role in the development of the region.
“Many countries have invested in Maldives. Those includes Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and USA. Even China is increasing investments” said Dr.Shainee. He said that when Maldives is developed economically the whole region will benefit from it and India will benefit too. He also talked about the important of stability in the region and he said that the way forward for regional development is through stability.
“Even Maldives can attain economic development when we have peace and harmony” said Dr.Shainee.
