The 4th religious scholar’s convention of Maldives has ended last night with a recommendation to implement the decisions made at the convention.
Speaking on behalf of the scholars during the closing ceremony of the convention, Sheikh Ali Zahir Bin Saeed Qasim said that the previous convention also decided on doing many things, but many of these programs have still not been implemented.
The 25 decisions made during the convention was announced by Sheikh Moosa Nizar. The scholars recommended that the decisions made by the current convention should be implemented before the next convention.
A total of 48 scholars took part in this convention. The deputy Islamic Minister Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Ibrahim Rasheed said that this figure is good when considering that only scholars in Male’ area took part in the convention this year. He said that compared to the previous years, there were few scholars because scholars from the atolls could not take part this year.
Sheikh Ali Zahir said that the participation of media should be increased in such religious events. “While an event of such magnitude has ended, there was no even a banner outside” said the Sheikh.
Sheikh Ali Zahir thanked Islamic Ministry for organizing the conference. The participants proposed 8 different papers to the conference and debated about it. In addition to Maldivian scholars, scholars from Saudi Arabia also took part in the conference.
