First Secretary of British High Commission Danial Panter have said that Maldives is an important and a favorite destination for the British people.
Daniel said that the relation between Maldives and the UK is very special that is very historic. “The two countries have been in close relations starting from a long time ago” said Daniel. He said that tourism has strengthened the relations between the two countries and Maldives is the favorite destination of British holidaymakers. He said that last year alone more than 90,000 British tourists visited Maldives.
“There is a lot of support for Maldivian tourism in the UK. Maldivian resorts are the most beautiful. Many people desire to visit these resorts. I hope that even this year a lot of Britons will visit Maldives” said Daniel.
He also said that the British government will assist Maldives in maintaining safety and security in the country. He made these statements while speaking at the opening ceremony of the counter terrorism workshop that started today. The workshop is organized by both Maldives and UK.
