Country representative of WHO in Maldives, Dr.Arvindh Maathur have said that the Maldives have shown good results and achieved significantly in developing the health sector.
Dr.Arvindh made this statement while speaking at the opening ceremony of a workshop held at Paradise Island Resort today on how the health sector can work on to achieve the sustainability development goals.
He noted the achievements Maldives has attained after the workshop held last year.
Dr.Arvindh said that working towards sustainable development will always be faced with challenges. He said that this work will require the assistance of many especially financially and in training. In addition, he said that a lot of work should be done to monitor effectively.
Dr.Arvindh said that eradicating malaria and filaria completely from the Maldives is a huge achievement. He said that in that regard Maldives should also work to eradicate TB from the country. In addition, he praised the universal health care plan of Maldives and also said that opening a pharmacy in all the islands is a notable achievement.
