“The ship has been docked at the port for days. Still the goods haven’t been unloaded. Price hikes are a result of decreased supply in the market. Cannot supply on time because MPL cannot unload goods on time. We bring goods on time. But if they cannot unload it on time then what can we do” These are complains of a businessman just few months back.
“Businessmen do not move out their goods. We will clear the containers within an hour once they put forward the request. Now we have to take back the goods again because they do not take the goods after we unload the containers. There are no ships at the port. The staffs who unload the goods do not have any work to do now” this is what MPL is saying today.
This is a huge change in circumstances. No one would ever have thought that MPL could achieve this. CEO of MPL Muhammad Junaid said that MPL was able to achieve this due to the high priority given by President Yameen to provide goods for the people at low prices.
“President Yameen does not like band-aid solutions. Instead of temporary solutions the President requires sustainable solutions. That is why he facilitated of bringing 22 vehicles instead of 1 vehicle” said CEO Junaid.
The effort of CEO Junaid should also be noted with regards to the development of MPL. Usually he is the first one to go to the office in the morning and works extra hours. He never hesitates to take action that is needed for reform.
President Yameen bestowed the duty of running MPL on Junaid because the President knows that without developing MPL, it will not be possible to solve the issues faced at the port. Today, staffs are able to relax without doing any work because of the change President Yameen brought to the management of MPL.
