MIRA collects record MVR 2 billion on January 2017

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority has collected 2 billion Rufiyaa on January 2017. According to MIRA this is the most amount of money they have collected within one month.

January has a lot of tax deadlines. January 29th was the deadline to pay the tax of last quarter of 2016 and also GST of December. In addition, 31st January was the deadline to pay the second interim payment of BPT of 2016.

According to MIRA, from 29th to 31st January they opened temporary service counters in the hall of former Jamaaluhdeen School, to collect payments and statements. They said that they provided services to more than 28,000 customers.
