IGMH has started mammography and breast clinic service. This will definitely bring smiles to thousands of faces across the Maldives.
The breast clinic was officially launched this morning by First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim. At the moment, the service will be given on Tuesdays only. However, the hospital said that based on the support they plan to increase the number of days.
Even previously IGMH provided screening services. However, it was a hassle and it was not possible to do it without appointments. With this new clinic, anyone can screen without any appointments.
Speaking about breast cancer, Dr.Abdullah Azhar of IGMH said that if diagnosed early, breast cancer can be treated and hence it is important to do mammography. According to IGMH, they will arrange those who have warning signs to consult with a special doctor after a mammography. If there are no problems, mammography report will be given to the patient within 5 days.
