Aishath Lamhaa of Iskandar School is a graduate of Dhasvaaru program. This is a program initiated by the government to enable students to acquire various vocational skills.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates last night, in the graduation ceremony, Lamha said that even now she works at the front desk of a travel agency. She said that her dream is to go for higher education in the field and become a CEO of a travel agency.
Lamha said that when she started the program, some people made fun of her saying that the class is for students who are weak in their studies. She said that she did not care about such comments, and as a result she passed in 3 subjects in O’levels and also got the job she wanted. She said that she is proud of her achievements. She said that she got a lot of help from teachers and supervisors during her studies. She said that, it helped her extremely.
Even though Lamha completed a basic level course, her dream can be a reality. With the will of Allah, that is not something unachievable.
Businesses and travel agencies in Maldives were developed by people with basic education. Lamha is still very young. She has the potential to study and even get a PhD in the field. The country will be developed by students like Lamha who have the determination to bring changes.
