Coast Guard seeks foreign assistance to find Jailam
Coast Guard has requested for foreign assistance to find Ahmed Jailam who was lost on 16th February after he went for diving.

Speaking to the press the head of search and rescue operations Colonel Saleem said that vessels traveling in Maldivian territories are also assisting in the operation.

Colonel Saleem said that once they received reports of his disappearance, they started the operation to find him. He said that they sent rescue divers, night vision, and even used a Maldivian plane in the search.

Colonel Saleem said that Sun Island Resort and Conrad Maldives provided a lot of assistance in the operation. " So far an area of 1000 nautical miles have been searched" said the Colonel. He said that in other countries police usually search for missing persons for 3 days but however in Maldives they search for 5 days. He said that an operation will be suspended after discussing at the highest level.

In addition he said that only 73 percent of the search and rescue operations are successful even in the most developed countries. He said that compared to the number of cases in Maldives, the success rate is high in the Maldives.
