An Indian business expo is to be held in Maldives. The expo will be held from 27th to 29th April 2017. The expo is organized by Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO) and Indian Commerce Ministry.
FIEO says that the purpose of this expo is to increase the trade between Maldives and India. The trade between Maldives and India increased in 2015-2016 compared to 2014-2015. Trade increased from 152 million dollars to 178 million dollars. This is a 17 percent increment.
A lot of important goods such as staple food and construction aggregate to Maldives are imported to Maldives from India. Hence, Indian government provides a lot of privileges in exporting to Maldives.
Relations between India and Maldives improved significantly since President Yameen assumed office.
