Council Member of Adhalath Party, Shidhaatha Shareef have said that the government could not explain why the immigration has held her passport.
Speaking to the press Shidhaatha said that even though they said that her passport was held and she was handed over to police custody with a court order, she has not seen this order. She said that when she was in police custody they told her that she was not under arrest but since she was there against her will, she believes that she was under arrest.
Her lawyer, Ali Hussain said that when they requested for reasons behind the immigration holding her passport, the criminal court stated that they issued a court order when the police requested for it. However, he said that when they requested the police for Shidhaathaa’s records they gave a document which states that there is no ongoing investigation about her. Ali Hussain said that hence on party in this case is lying.
