MP for Kinbidhoo constituency Abdullah Riyaz have requested the government oversight committee of the parliament to investigate the misuse of 16 million Rufiyaa by health ministry.
He made this request because the audit report states that in 2014, the ministry misused 16 million Rufiyaa. The letter sent to Riyaz Rasheed the chair of the committee by Abdullah Riyaz states that the ministry did not ask for money from those who were responsible in making late payments for electricity, water, and visa fees. As a result, the ministry had to pay 8 million Rufiyaa as fines.
Even the Auditor General Hassan Ziyath recommended the government to take action against those who were responsible for mismanagement of funds. Riyaz also stated in his letter that the audit report states that staffs took salary for extra hours against the regulations of Civil Service and also works were contracted without any agreements. In addition, he highlighted that unused money in the budget was spent without providing the details to Finance Ministry.
