Lh.Hinnavaru, Nailoange Ahmed Asharaf (Shumba Gong) has been changed to house arrest from jail. He is being charged for threatening Zaahid Zameer a council member of PPM.
He was changed to house arrest after the judge presiding over his case ordered correctional service to change him to house arrest. He has been in prison for more than a year and half.
Asharaf was close to the former Vice President and was active on social media. No hearings of him has been held for more than a year. A hearing was scheduled for last Monday but was later cancelled. It was cancelled because the state failed to bring in witnesses. The last hearing was held in this case was held in March 2016.
His family has criticized the judiciary for not conducting hearings. He was arrested in Sri Lanka after the presidential launch “finifenma” was blasted.
